Our client seeks a Dynatrace Subject Matter Expert to lead the design, implementation, optimization, and support of enterprise observability solutions with emphasis on infrastructure and database monitoring across hybrid environments. The role partners with infrastructure, cloud, database, application, SRE, and operations teams to enhance reliability, performance, and visibility. The ideal candidate demonstrates deep Dynatrace administration expertise, strong infrastructure observability practices, and database monitoring strategies across cloud and on-premises platforms.

Rate: $80.00 to $89.00/hr. w2

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary Dynatrace SME supporting enterprise observability initiatives.
  • Design, implement, configure, and optimize Dynatrace monitoring solutions.
  • Administer Dynatrace tenants, OneAgent deployments, ActiveGates, integrations, and upgrades.
  • Establish monitoring standards, governance, naming conventions, alerting strategies, and dashboards.
  • Promote observability best practices across infrastructure, cloud, databases, and middleware.
  • Monitor and analyze performance of Windows, Linux/Unix, VMware, Kubernetes/OpenShift, public cloud services, storage, network, and load balancing.
  • Configure dashboards, alerts, anomaly detection, and capacity planning reports.
  • Design and support database monitoring for Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and DB2 where applicable.
  • Analyze query performance, resource utilization, locking, deadlocks, and transactions.
  • Develop database observability dashboards and KPI reporting with DBAs.
  • Build intelligent alerting to reduce noise and improve incident response.
  • Develop custom metrics, extensions, synthetic monitoring, SLIs, SLOs, and availability monitoring.
  • Implement event correlation and root cause analysis workflows.
  • Integrate Dynatrace with ServiceNow, Splunk, PagerDuty, Jira, Azure DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Automate with PowerShell, Python, Bash, and support Terraform-based IaC.
  • Participate in production support and major incident management, lead RCA, and create runbooks.
  • Mentor engineers and support teams.

Experience Requirements:
  • 5+ years in IT Infrastructure, Monitoring, SRE, Operations Engineering, or Observability Engineering.
  • 3+ years of hands-on Dynatrace administration and implementation.
  • Experience in enterprise-scale environments with thousands of monitored hosts and services.
  • Successful delivery of observability solutions in highly available production environments.
  • Expertise with Dynatrace capabilities: OneAgent, ActiveGate, Davis AI, Smartscape, Synthetic Monitoring, RUM, Metrics & Events API, Log Management, Distributed Tracing, Service Flow Analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows administration, public cloud (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform), virtualization, networks, and containers.
  • Database performance monitoring and troubleshooting for Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL, including execution plan analysis and query optimization.
