The Role

• Operate heavy equipment to load and unload shipping containers from railcars and trucks.
• Drive hostlers to position containers and chassis within the intermodal yard.
• Utilize specialized equipment like top loaders, side loaders, and cranes for container movement and organization.
• Conduct pre- and post-use equipment inspections to ensure safety and operational readiness.
• Coordinate with yard personnel and supervisors to manage daily logistics and task flow.
• Adhere strictly to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a secure work environment.

What You'll Need

• A valid driver’s license is essential for this position.
• Previous experience operating heavy equipment or machinery in a logistics or industrial setting is preferred.
• A strong commitment to safety and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules, including potential weekend and holiday shifts as determined by union seniority.
• Basic communication skills and the capacity to collaborate effectively within a team.
