The Role

• Operate specialized heavy equipment (hostlers, cranes, top loaders, side loaders) to load, unload, and move shipping containers.
• Safely position containers and chassis within the intermodal yard using hostlers.
• Stack, move, and organize containers according to operational needs.
• Conduct pre- and post-use inspections of equipment to ensure safety and functionality.
• Collaborate with yard personnel and supervisors to coordinate tasks and container movements.
• Adhere to established safety protocols and procedures to maintain a secure work environment.

What You'll Need

• A valid driver's license is mandatory for this position.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules, including night shifts (2nd or 3rd shift), with scheduling determined by union seniority.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety are essential.
• Basic communication skills and the ability to function effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background check, physical, and drug screening.
