The Role

• Operate specialized heavy equipment (hostlers, cranes, top loaders, side loaders) to load and unload shipping containers from railcars and trucks.
• Drive hostlers to precisely position containers and chassis within the intermodal yard.
• Utilize equipment to stack, move, and organize containers according to operational needs.
• Conduct pre- and post-use inspections of equipment to guarantee safety and functionality.
• Collaborate with yard personnel and supervisors for efficient coordination of tasks and container movements.
• Adhere strictly to established safety protocols and procedures to maintain a secure work environment.

What You'll Need

• A valid driver's license is mandatory for this position.
• Experience operating heavy equipment in a logistics or industrial setting is preferred.
• A strong commitment to safety and a keen eye for detail.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50lbs.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules, including night shifts (2nd or 3rd shift) and potentially weekends/holidays, with scheduling determined by union seniority.
• Basic communication skills and the capacity to function effectively as part of a team.
