Job Description

We are seeking a Technical Writer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in technical writing, technical documentation, and content governance and a proven ability to deliver clear, accurate, and scalable end-user and developer documentation that improves onboarding, safety, and operational outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Plan, write, edit, and maintain user-facing documentation for AWS Boost, including task-based user guides, onboarding materials, FAQs, and release notes.


• Produce developer-facing content such as API references, process-authoring guides, and content-management documentation for forms, flows, and variable sets.


• Partner with engineers, product managers, and UX to translate complex data center workflows into clear, step-by-step instructions.


• Develop and enforce documentation standards, style guidelines, templates, and information architecture across regions and audiences.


• Validate documentation for technical accuracy by testing procedures and reviewing against the product.


• Manage documentation through release cycles, ensuring content stays current as features launch globally.


• Gather and act on feedback from technicians, managers, and service owners to improve content quality and findability.


• Work with localization teams to structure content for a global, multi-region audience.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 3+ years as a technical writer producing software or technical product documentation.


• Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.


• Ability to write clear, concise, task-based documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.


• Experience with structured authoring tools and formats such as Markdown, HTML, wikis, docs-as-code, or a component content management system.


• Experience partnering with software engineers and product managers to gather and verify technical information.


• Portfolio or writing samples demonstrating end-user guides and API or developer documentation.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience documenting enterprise or operational software, workflow or process-automation tools, or hardware and infrastructure operations.


• Familiarity with data center operations, hardware lifecycle, inventory management, or field-operations tooling.


• Experience with docs-as-code workflows, Git version control, and integrating documentation into CI/CD or release pipelines.


• Experience creating API references from specifications such as OpenAPI or Smithy and writing developer guides.


• Experience building information architecture and content standards for a growing product.


• Familiarity with localization and writing for a multi-region, ESL-inclusive audience.


• Experience with UX writing, in-product help or microcopy, or instructional design.


• Ability to create diagrams, screenshots, and visual aids to support written content.
