Job Description

Senior IT Project Manager

12 mo + Contract

Rate: up to $50/hr W2

Our client is a nationally recognized healthcare organization dedicated to advancing care for individuals living with chronic and complex conditions. Through a broad network of care delivery models and a commitment to innovation, the organization works to improve patient outcomes, enhance quality of life, and deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.

We are seeking a Senior IT Project Manager to lead complex technology initiatives supporting physician-focused solutions. In this role, you will oversee projects from initial discovery and planning through development, deployment, and operational readiness, partnering with product, engineering, business, and external teams to deliver meaningful results. This position is ideal for a hands-on project leader who takes ownership, navigates competing priorities, anticipates risks, and drives accountability across diverse teams. You will also contribute to financial planning, resource management, and project governance while helping improve delivery practices and identify opportunities to leverage AI and emerging technologies.

Here’s What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead End-to-End Technology Delivery: Drive complex IT projects through the full software development lifecycle, from discovery and architecture through development, testing, deployment, and operational adoption. Establish delivery roadmaps, manage milestones, and keep scope and priorities aligned with business objectives.
  • Manage Dependencies, Risks, and Execution: Maintain critical-path schedules across product, engineering, operations, and vendor teams. Identify roadblocks early, challenge assumptions, establish clear ownership and deadlines, and develop recovery plans to keep projects moving forward.
  • Align Stakeholders and Drive Decisions: Partner with product, design, engineering, and business leaders to coordinate priorities and resolve competing demands. Facilitate working sessions and steering meetings, communicate project health to leadership, and provide clear recommendations on risks, trade-offs, and paths to successful delivery.
  • Oversee Financials, Resources, and Governance: Manage resource allocations, capacity plans, project budgets, vendor statements of work, and labor costs. Maintain accurate financial forecasts, monitor spending and time-tracking compliance, and ensure project documentation and governance practices meet organizational standards.
  • Improve Delivery Practices and Outcomes: Apply Agile methodologies and project management best practices to strengthen execution, support continuous discovery and delivery, and identify opportunities for process improvement and AI-driven efficiencies.

Here’s What Our Ideal Candidate Has

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible professional experience.
  • At least five years of IT experience, including a minimum of three years managing IT projects, with demonstrated ownership of initiatives from planning through deployment and operational readiness.
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban, cloud technologies, and the ability to translate business strategies into actionable project plans.
  • Proven critical-thinking, problem-solving, stakeholder management, resource planning, and change management skills, including the ability to evaluate technical trade-offs, manage dependencies, and drive decisions across cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project and intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or another recognized project management certification.
  • Change management or Lean Six Sigma certification.
  • Experience with project portfolio management tools such as Targetprocess, Clarity, Smartsheet, Jira, or Microsoft Project Online.
  • Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Continuous Discovery and Delivery frameworks.
  • Experience managing technology initiatives in regulated industries, such as healthcare or financial services.
