Quick Overview
Job Description
About the Role
This is a high-ownership engineering role at an early-stage healthtech startup building an AI-powered platform that automates prior authorization and payer compliance for surgical and procedural specialties. You will own the integration layer between the platform and the provider and insurance systems it serves, sitting close to both the founding team and clients to translate complex healthcare workflows into clean technical solutions.
What You'll Do
Build and maintain integrations with provider practices and insurance systems using APIs, web scrapers, and RPA tooling as needed.
Join client discovery sessions alongside founders to map real-world workflows and translate them into technical requirements.
Ship custom integrations quickly and iterate based on live feedback from practice clients.
Contribute to the core product during periods when integration work is not the bottleneck.
Develop deep working knowledge of the US provider and payer landscape, including prior authorization, benefits verification, and appeals processes.
What We're Looking For
2 to 5 years of full-stack engineering experience building and shipping features in production.
Startup background with broad ownership across the stack and comfort shipping under ambiguity in small teams.
Proven experience integrating third-party APIs end-to-end, from discovery through delivery.
Proficiency in Python and FastAPI (or equivalent backend frameworks) and React with TypeScript (or equivalent frontend technologies).
Active use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Cursor, with shipped production work to show for it.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical tradeoffs clearly to non-technical clients and stakeholders.
Ability to attend in-person team or client meetings and travel occasionally as needed.
Pluses: experience with web scrapers or RPA solutions, AWS or GCP cloud infrastructure, production LLM or AI application development, or prior work in US healthcare or provider/payer systems.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $150,000 to $230,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
Location
Hybrid, based in New York City, NY. In-person attendance is expected for team and client meetings, with some travel required.
