Job Description

Job Title: Senior Interface Analyst

Location: Quincy, MA 02171 (Hybrid)

Job Type: Contract

Job Overview

The Senior Interface Analyst supports a large state government Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) program. The analyst manages end-to-end interface operations — from requirements gathering and specification design through implementation, testing, and post-go-live stabilization. The role involves deep engagement with both business and technical stakeholders on healthcare interoperability standards including HL7, FHIR, EDI/X12, REST/SOAP APIs, and secure file-transfer protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Requirements & Documentation
    • Gather, analyze, document, and validate interface and interoperability requirements in collaboration with business and technical teams; define and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs), schemas, and data mappings.
  • Interface & API Design
    • Lead JAD and interface design sessions; define field-to-field mappings, transformation rules, error handling, and REST/SOAP/FHIR API specifications including endpoints, payloads, and authentication.
  • CMS Interoperability Initiatives
    • Support FHIR-based Patient Access, Provider Access, and Prior Authorization API implementations aligned with CMS interoperability mandates.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance
    • Develop and review interface test scenarios; coordinate SIT, UAT, end-to-end, and regression testing cycles across integrated systems.
  • Incident Management & Troubleshooting
    • Troubleshoot interface failures, rejected transactions, and production incidents using log-parsing and API tracing tools (Splunk, Datadog, Dynatrace).
  • Secure File Transfer
    • Support SFTP and secure file-transfer interfaces including PGP encryption setup, monitoring, and issue resolution.
  • End-to-End Interface Ownership
    • Take full ownership of assigned interfaces from requirements definition through post-go-live stabilization, ensuring continuity across all SDLC phases.

Technical Skills

  • Healthcare Interoperability Standards: HL7, FHIR, EDI/X12, flat-file exchanges
  • APIs & Web Services: REST APIs, SOAP Web Services, XML, JSON
  • Secure Transfer & Encryption: SFTP, PGP Encryption, Unix/Linux environments
  • Databases & Data: SQL, database validation techniques, data mapping
  • Monitoring & Observability Tools: Splunk, Datadog, Dynatrace (log parsing, API tracing)
  • Cloud Platforms (Preferred): AWS, Microsoft Azure integration environments
  • Methodology & Process: SDLC (all phases), Agile/Scrum, SIT, UAT, Regression Testing
  • Domain: MMIS, Medicaid Systems, healthcare interoperability, Gap Analysis, Requirements Gathering

Soft Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication — ability to translate technical specifications for business stakeholders
  • Stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration (business + technical teams)
  • Analytical problem-solving and troubleshooting under production-incident pressure
  • Thorough documentation discipline (ICDs, requirement specs, test scenarios)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Health Informatics, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in interface analysis, healthcare interoperability, or a closely related technical BA/analyst role
  • Prior Medicaid or MMIS system experience strongly preferred
