Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer Location: Buckinghamshire Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent About the Role We are recruiting for an innovative engineering specialist in Buckinghamshire looking for a Design Engineer to join their growing team. In this role, you will lead the mechanical design of cutting-edge powertrain systems and components across R&D and high-profile customer programs. What You'll Do Design innovative 3D parametric models and manufacturing drawings for mechanical, thermal, and fluid systems. Apply first-principles engineering calculations and interpret FEA results to validate and optimise your designs. Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and suppliers to drive Design for Manufacture (DFM) and ensure high standards. Assist with DFMEAs, root-cause investigations into mechanical failures, and continuous cost/complexity reduction. What We're Looking For Education: Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Aerospace Engineering (BEng/BSc essential). Technical Skills: Strong background in 1st principles engineering, 3D parametric CAD, and FEA interpretation. Core Experience: Hands-on experience designing mechanical, thermal, or fluid components. Desirable Extras: Experience with CATIA V5/V6, electric motors/inverters, mechatronics, or GD&T (BS8888/ASME Y14.5).
