Job Description

Golang Lead

Location: Remote (Client locations: Atlanta, GA / New Jersey)

Position Summary

We are looking for an accomplished Golang Lead to drive critical healthcare technology initiatives for our client. In this role, you will spearhead the design, architecture, and delivery of scalable backend services and distributed microservices using Go. You will combine deep technical expertise in PostgreSQL, API design, and cloud-native engineering with strong leadership capabilities—guiding engineering teams, setting technical standards, and partnering closely with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver robust enterprise solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Guide developers, conduct thorough technical design reviews, drive sprint delivery planning, and champion engineering best practices across the team.

  • Architecture & Development: Architect, build, and maintain high-performance backend systems and microservices utilizing Go.

  • API & Data Engineering: Design and enhance robust RESTful and gRPC APIs, alongside writing efficient data access logic, stored procedures, functions, and optimized queries in PostgreSQL.

  • Collaboration & Delivery: Work hand-in-hand with enterprise architects, product managers, business analysts, QA units, and DevOps specialists within an Agile/Scrum framework.

  • Quality & Code Standards: Produce clean, reusable, and rigorously tested code, actively participating in peer code reviews and upholding quality gates.

  • Cloud & CI/CD Operations: Support containerized deployments, pipeline automation, and scalable infrastructure delivery.

  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose complex application challenges, perform root-cause analysis, and engineer long-term, scalable resolutions.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 8+ years of total professional software development experience.

  • Advanced, hands-on programming proficiency in Go / Golang, including mastery of concurrency patterns, goroutines, channels, interfaces, structs, maps, and error handling.

  • Demonstrated expertise in building distributed backend systems, microservices architectures, and robust APIs.

  • Comprehensive PostgreSQL experience covering schema design, indexing, advanced joins, query optimization, and performance tuning.

  • Strong familiarity with REST APIs, JSON data structures, authentication/authorization mechanisms, and secure coding principles.

  • Proficiency with Git-based version control workflows (e.g., GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket).

  • Experience implementing automated unit testing and maintaining code coverage standards.

  • Proven track record of working in fast-paced Agile/Scrum environments with active backlog grooming and iterative deployments.

  • Exceptional communication, analytical, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Background in the healthcare domain (e.g., health insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, claims processing, member/provider management, or care systems).

  • Familiarity with healthcare data exchange standards like HL7, FHIR, or EDI.

  • Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Deployment and infrastructure experience across cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).

  • Experience with event streaming or messaging platforms like Kafka or RabbitMQ.

  • Exposure to NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.

  • Familiarity with setting up CI/CD pipelines and utilizing application performance monitoring (APM) and observability tooling.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related discipline (equivalent professional experience is also welcomed).
