Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Technical Product Manager with strong Kubernetes and container platform experience to work closely with engineering, QA, and technical stakeholders.
This is a highly technical product management role focused on Kubernetes and container platforms. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working directly with engineers, writing detailed technical requirements, testing Kubernetes features, troubleshooting customer issues, and helping deliver reliable platform capabilities.
The successful candidate will bring a combination of technical Kubernetes expertise and product management experience and should be comfortable working from the command line and getting into the technical details.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed product requirements, technical specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria for Kubernetes and container platform capabilities.
- Work closely with engineering teams on cluster lifecycle, provisioning, storage, networking, autoscaling, upgrades, and platform enhancements.
- Deploy and operate Kubernetes clusters to test new features, reproduce issues, and validate fixes.
- Troubleshoot Kubernetes issues using logs, events, configurations, and command-line tools.
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, architecture/design discussions, and technical reviews.
- Triage and prioritize bugs, customer escalations, and feature requests based on technical impact and business priorities.
- Partner with QA and engineering teams to define test strategies and acceptance criteria.
- Support technical teams, sales engineering, and customers with Kubernetes-related questions and troubleshooting.
- Evaluate Kubernetes distributions and CNCF ecosystem technologies through hands-on testing and competitive analysis.
- Contribute to product documentation, release notes, technical guides, and internal enablement materials.
- Translate technical requirements and customer needs into actionable product priorities for engineering teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Product Management, Technical Product Management, DevOps, SRE, Platform Engineering, or a similar technical role.
- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container platforms.
- Ability to deploy, operate, troubleshoot, and understand Kubernetes environments independently.
- Strong understanding of Kubernetes architecture, including control plane components, kubelet, RBAC, namespaces, autoscaling, and cluster lifecycle management.
- Experience with Kubernetes upgrades, cluster provisioning, and operational workflows.
- Practical experience with Kubernetes storage and networking concepts.
- Experience working directly with engineering and QA teams in an Agile environment.
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
Required Technical Skills
- Kubernetes / K8s: Cluster administration, control plane, kubelet, RBAC, namespaces, autoscaling, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
- CSI / Storage: Dynamic volume provisioning, StorageClasses, persistent volumes, snapshots, and storage policies.
- CNI / Networking: Pod networking, overlay networks, CNI technologies, and network troubleshooting.
- Multi-Cluster / Multi-Tenancy: Namespace isolation, tenant environments, and multi-cluster architectures.
- Infrastructure as Code: Terraform and/or Ansible.
- CNCF Ecosystem: Prometheus, Grafana, Calico, or comparable Kubernetes ecosystem tools.
- Scripting: Python, Bash, and/or Go.
- Containers: Docker, containerd, or comparable container technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Kubernetes running on VMware, KVM, bare metal, or hybrid infrastructure.
- Experience with managed Kubernetes or enterprise Kubernetes platforms.
- Exposure to Kubernetes distributions such as OpenShift, Rancher, EKS, AKS, or GKE.
- Experience working with enterprise infrastructure, cloud platforms, or container management products.
- Experience troubleshooting complex customer or production Kubernetes environments.
- Previous experience as a Kubernetes Engineer, DevOps Engineer, SRE, Platform Engineer, or Cloud Engineer is highly desirable.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate combines technical product management skills with hands-on Kubernetes expertise. You should be able to work directly with engineers, understand technical architecture, reproduce and troubleshoot issues, test platform capabilities, and translate technical requirements into clear product specifications.
This is not a purely strategic Product Manager role. Candidates should be comfortable working at the command line, reviewing Kubernetes logs and configurations, testing deployments, and engaging deeply with engineering teams.
