Position title:

Intern, Software Engineer, Full Stack

Your role at Sephora

As the Intern, Software Engineer, Full Stack, you will join a collaborative engineering team for a learning-focused internship centered on front-end development, with exposure to full-stack concepts. With guidance from experienced engineers, you will contribute to real product work, practice building accessible and responsive user experiences, and learn how front-end applications connect to services and APIs. You will be supported through mentoring, code reviews, pairing, and team ceremonies. Candidates are not expected to know every technology listed. Experience gained through coursework, personal projects, open-source contributions, and hackathons is valued, and prior professional software engineering experience is not required.

What you will accomplish:

  • Learn and contribute to front-end features using HTML, CSS, JavaScript or TypeScript, and a component-based UI framework such as React. With guidance, assist in creating reusable UI components, improving responsive behavior, and following established accessibility and coding patterns. Pair with experienced engineers and ask questions as you build practical skills.

  • Gain exposure to full-stack concepts by observing and assisting with simple API integrations and learning how data moves between front-end applications and backend services. Backend work will be completed with guidance and is intended for learning rather than independent ownership.

  • Participate in code reviews, pairing sessions, and Git-based team workflows. With support, make small code changes, document your work, ask for feedback, and assist with debugging straightforward issues.

  • Learn basic testing practices by adding or updating tests with guidance. Shadow engineers to understand how software changes are reviewed, validated, and delivered; prior CI/CD experience is not required. Join team standups, planning sessions, demos, and retrospectives to learn how a product engineering team works. Collaborate respectfully with engineers, product managers, designers, QA, and other partners, and share progress or questions with support from your mentor and manager.

  • Present the project outcome, evidence, lessons learned, and recommended next steps at the internship culmination.

  • Demonstrate our Sephora values: Passion, Innovation, Expertise, Balance, Respect, Teamwork, and Initiative.

Qualifications & experience:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field.

  • Foundational programming or scripting experience in Python, Java, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, Bash, or a comparable language.

  • Basic understanding of Linux, networking, APIs, Git, cloud computing, containers, or CI/CD concepts through coursework, projects, or prior experience.

  • Ability to break down problems, learn unfamiliar technology, document work clearly, and communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Interest in AI infrastructure, platform engineering, cloud engineering, DevOps, SRE, developer experience, or distributed systems.

  • Exposure to one or more cloud platforms, infrastructure-as-code or CI/CD tools, containers, observability concepts, secure software development, or AI/ML platform technologies.

Eligibility requirements:

• Graduating in 2027 or 2028 (undergraduate or graduate degree)

• Work schedule must align with 9-5PM, Pacific Standard Time

• Must permanently reside and work in the U.S.

• Must be open to relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area upon graduation for consideration for full-time hybrid positions

• Available from June 14 - August 20, 2027

What You'll Get:

The target hourly pay for this position is $30.00 - $30.00. The actual hourly pay offered depends on various factors, which may include, as applicable, the individual applicant's qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job.

  • Caring Community. You'll collaborate with teammates who are equally passionate about innovating and driving the industry forward - together, united in beauty.
  • Fulfilling Path. Your career transformation starts here, with opportunities that will challenge, stretch and develop your skills.
  • Meaningful Work. As you make an impact on beauty, you'll feel and see the positive change (consumer, industry, and social) that your individual voice is a part of.
