Senior Project Manager – Data Center Projects

Position Overview

  • Lead multiple concurrent or program-scale data center projects (1–20+ MW) from concept through commissioning and turnover.
  • Serve as the executive interface to the client, steering strategy, risk, commercial outcomes, and cross-project standardization.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Governance

  • Set program strategy and project governance; align scope, budget, schedule, and Tier resiliency goals across stakeholders.
  • Build and mentor PM teams; coordinate tightly with Superintendents for constructability, sequencing, and turnover milestones.
  • Provide executive reporting on KPI dashboards: cost, schedule, risk, quality, punch/defect burn-down, commissioning progress, and readiness for IT load.

Commercial & Financial Management

  • Oversee cost planning, GMP development, cash flow, buyout strategy, and contingency management.
  • Drive value engineering without compromising availability.
  • Manage enterprise-level cost controls and commercial outcomes across multiple projects.

Commissioning & Technical Execution

  • Direct commissioning strategy including test scripts, sequence of operations, load bank plans, and IST readiness.
  • Lead L1–L5 execution and acceptance.
  • Ensure design and field work conform to TIA-942 resiliency ratings, Uptime Tier intent, and ASHRAE TC 9.9 thermal guidelines.
  • Verify BMS/EPMS integration and alarming.

Procurement & Logistics

  • Orchestrate long-lead procurement across OEMs (switchgear, UPS, generators, chillers, cooling distribution).
  • Coordinate logistics for phased energization and critical equipment delivery.

Safety & Operational Readiness

  • Sponsor safety culture across all project teams.
  • Review MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs for hot work, lockout/tagout, and live cutovers in active facilities.
  • Drive readiness planning through commissioning and turnover.

Stakeholder & Partner Management

  • Manage external partners including CxA, AE, commissioning agents, utilities, and AHJ stakeholders.
  • Coordinate permits, inspections, and energization approvals.
  • Serve as the primary executive-level client interface throughout project delivery.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years in construction management with 8+ years in mission-critical/data center projects.
  • Expert-level knowledge of MEP systems, commissioning sequences, redundancy topologies, and critical path scheduling.
  • Proven success delivering accelerated multi-MW projects or programs to budget and schedule.
  • Mastery of P6/MS Project, Procore, and enterprise cost control.
  • High-impact leadership with polished client-facing communication.

Preferred

  • Familiar with Uptime Institute Tier methodology, ANSI/TIA-942 ratings, and ASHRAE TC 9.9 thermal guidance.
  • Experience with multi-site rollouts, modular builds, and phased/live environment upgrades.
  • Professional credential (PMP, CCM) and commissioning training.
