Apex Systems is hiring a Systems Engineer (Kafka focus) for a large Healthcare client.

Location: Fully remote anywhere in the US.

Role Overview

This position is on the Confluent Cloud team, which manages the infrastructure for a Cloud Kafka SaaS platform. This platform is utilized by over 100 applications for data streaming.

The role involves administering Kafka platforms, both on-premise and in the cloud, developing new services, and providing support to a large client base. The team operates within an Agile methodology, emphasizing collaboration, paired programming, and knowledge sharing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer Kafka platforms on-premise and in the cloud.
  • Develop new services and enhancements for the platform.
  • Provide client support and manage incidents.
  • Engage in solution engineering and develop proofs-of-concept.
  • Conduct code reviews and coach junior team members.
  • Participate in daily scrum ceremonies and collaborative troubleshooting.
  • Support platform maintenance, automation, and the introduction of new capabilities.
Required Qualifications

Education: A bachelor's degree is required.

Experience: A minimum of 4-6 years of relevant experience is required.

Technical Skills:
  • Apache Kafka administration.
  • Confluent Cloud or Platform administration.
  • Experience with Event-Driven Architecture and Event Streaming.
  • Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD practices.
  • AWS experience.
  • Cloud engineering skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with NoSQL databases, specifically Mongo.
  • Familiarity with monitoring, alerting, and logging tools such as Dynatrace and Splunk.
