Systems Engineer Lead | Norfolk, VA, United States | On-site | $75,866.00 - $108,381.00

This employer is a globally recognized leader in defense technology and shipbuilding, dedicated to building the world's most powerful and survivable naval ships and defense solutions. They are seeking a skilled Systems Engineer Lead to join their Mission Technologies division, contributing to advanced live, virtual, and constructive (LVC) training environments for military personnel. This is an opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and support critical national security missions.

The Role

  • Serve as the technical team lead and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for training events, communicating technical issues and new requirements to leadership.
  • Coordinate planning, test, and execution events, de-conflicting resource challenges.
  • Collaborate with operators, engineers, and training teams to plan and support system and personnel requirements for events.
  • Lead the technical team in adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and recommend updates or new SOPs as training requirements evolve.
  • Support the testing and execution of training events as directed by approved manning plans.
  • Maintain and enhance modeling and simulation tools based on evolving military capabilities and doctrine.
  • Utilize collaboration tools to share event schedules, documents, and track issues, keeping stakeholders informed of status.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with 2 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 0 years of experience, or a High School Diploma with 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Possess a Linux and/or Microsoft professional certification.
  • Hold a Security+ certification.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and hold an active U.S. Top Secret clearance.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts, architectures, and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP).
  • Knowledge of distributed simulation protocols such as High Level Architecture (HLA) and Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS).
  • Military experience and experience with operational level Joint Live Virtual Constructive (JLVC) supported events.
  • Strong technical leadership skills and excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
