Job Overview
Our client is seeking a GIS Specialist to support the Bureau of Tidelands in managing and maintaining the Tidelands GIS Data Layer used by both the public and internal staff. This role involves working with spatial and non-spatial digital data, historic maps, and aerial photography to support the management of State-owned lands.
Key Responsibilities
- Update and maintain the Tidelands GIS Data Layer for public and internal use
- Georeferencing scanned maps and aerial photography
- Feature identification, classification, and enhancement
- Perform area calculations and spatial analysis on raster and vector data
- Conduct GIS research to assist in establishing Tidelands policies
- Prepare reports with recommendations for the Tidelands Resource Council
- Process Tidelands Grants and Licenses
- Provide hardware and software support, including GIS training and user assistance
- Participate in enhancement and development of GIS technology for online Tidelands applications
- Assist with field data collection using tablets, smartphones, and GPS units
- Support maintenance of the Watershed and Land Management and Tidelands website in conjunction with the IT Group
- Communicate with applicants and assist with preparation of technical reports
Required Skills
- GIS data layer management and spatial analysis
