Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

Kforce's client is seeking a Remote Data Center Technician - candidates must be located within approximately 45 minutes of the designated data center location in the Atlanta, GA area. This role is responsible for emergency response and escorting third-party personnel at local data center sites as needed.

Duties

  • Operate and implement data center processes and procedures using ITIL standards for incident, problem, and change management
  • Serve as a primary technical contact for Data Center Services & Facilities teams, acting as a technical lead and local point of escalation during emergency events and day-to-day activities
  • Identify operational trends and analyze risks to communicate potential implications and impacts to data center operations
  • Track operational metrics and other data to provide senior management with both current-state visibility and long-term trend analysis
  • Develop and implement strategies to future-proof data center environments, ensuring scalability, resiliency, and adaptability to emerging technologies & evolving business needs
  • Recommend, create, establish, & execute policies and processes to align with corporate expectations and govern environmental conditions within data center facilities
  • Coordinate with IT Infrastructure teams to fulfill requests, perform changes, & respond to incidents
  • Work with various departments to improve, manage, update, and administer data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tools
  • Create and review departmental operating procedures, evaluate and document process improvements, & conduct awareness training for team members
  • Lead data center projects & coordinate initiatives with other departments and locations
  • Configure devices for initial installation and remove devices during decommissioning, including installing baselines, assigning IP addresses, updating DNS, & validating communication once connected

REQUIREMENTS

  • Advanced knowledge of servers, network cabling, and data center hardware
  • Knowledge of data center electrical, mechanical, and network system operations
  • Strong analytical and complex problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical issues
  • Knowledge of enterprise network hardware, including switches and routers
  • Knowledge of network communication protocols such as BGP, TCP/IP, and DHCP
  • Experience with LAN/WAN, routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and network cabling
  • Knowledge of network topologies including Ethernet, VLANs, MPLS, and VPNs
  • Knowledge of network security infrastructure
  • Experience with Windows and Linux server operating systems
  • Knowledge of directory services and infrastructure integration
  • Experience with network monitoring and management platforms
  • Ability to support scheduled maintenance activities
  • Willingness to travel as needed
  • Must be located within approximately 45 minutes of the designated data center location in the Atlanta, GA area; Location is important, as this individual will be responsible for emergency response and escorting third-party personnel at local data center sites as needed

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
