POSITION TIMING: Position requires candidates to obtain a Public Trust clearance which can take 4-6 weeks to process and must be complete prior to starting employment

This is an onsite position supporting the U.S.
Coast Guard Academy (USCGA). This is a fast-paced work environment that offers the opportunity to utilize hands-on experience with a variety of physical security and IT solutions to solve mission-critical problems supporting the US government. The ESS Administrator provides frontline (Tier I) support for the electronic security systems that protect USCGA facilities, including access control, closed-circuit television, and intrusion/security sensor systems.
This role supports day-to-day system administration, troubleshooting, and repair, along with technical evaluation of system upgrades, refresh, and recapitalization efforts. Responsibilities
- Provide Tier I support for Electronic Security Systems (ESS), including camera configuration, door lock configuration, and associated system integration.
- Support hardware, network, and application services related to electronic access control, closed-circuit television (CCTV), and security sensor systems.
- Provide technical recommendations, testing, and evaluation services to the Government in support of system expansion, refresh, and recapitalization activities.
- Provide technical assistance for fault analysis, testing, and repair of ESS systems and equipment — including troubleshooting, cleaning, rewiring, calibration, adjustment, and component/module replacement — to restore units to operational status.
- Support system administration tasks tied to the operation and configuration of Electronic Security Systems, including access control systems, closed-circuit television, network and database management systems, NVR and cloud-based systems, and security-controlled equipment such as card readers and biometric scanners.
Qualifications REQUIRED
- Active Public Trust clearance or ability to obtain.
- Demonstrated proficiency with access control systems such as Software House (C-CURE).
- Demonstrated proficiency with video management systems such as Avigilon.
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, VLANs, PoE, and network switch configuration.
- Experience configuring and maintaining IP cameras, card readers, door controllers, and biometric devices.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Candidate must be able to function in a mix of office, server/equipment room, and building-access environments across the USCGA campus.
- The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position approximately 50% of the time, with regular movement around the campus required to service access control, camera, and sensor equipment at various building locations.
- The person in this position must have the ability to lift and move security and IT equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, and may occasionally need to work from a ladder or in mechanical/electrical spaces to install, troubleshoot, or repair system components.
