Software Test Analyst 5 - Lansing, MI - Local Candidates Only

We are seeking a Software Test Analyst 5 to support a State of Michigan project within the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), Accounts Receivable and Collections (ARC) Project.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in manual and automated software testing, API testing, test automation, performance testing, accessibility testing, SQL, Java, and Agile/Scrum methodologies. The candidate should be comfortable analyzing requirements and user stories, designing comprehensive test cases, executing test plans, and communicating defects, risks, and results to technical and business stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

5+ years of experience designing and executing manual and automated test cases.

5+ years of experience analyzing requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria to create positive, negative, boundary, and reusable test cases.

5+ years of experience creating and documenting test plans and test strategies.

5+ years of experience with API testing using tools such as Postman, REST Client, RESTAssured, or APIRequestContext.

Experience automating web applications using Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or similar frameworks.

Strong Java programming skills with experience writing clean, maintainable, object-oriented automation code.

Experience with Gherkin scenarios and implementing Step Definitions in Java.

Experience with SQL/P-SQL, including SELECT and JOIN queries for test data setup and validation.

Experience working with Oracle and/or SQL Server databases.

Proficiency with Git, including branching, merging, and pull requests.

Experience with Azure DevOps Testing Module and defect tracking.

Bachelor's degree or higher in an IT-related field.

Highly Preferred Qualifications

Experience automating web applications using Playwright for Java.

Strong background in Selenium WebDriver.

Experience in financial and/or government domains.

Experience with ADA/accessibility compliance testing, including tools such as JAWS and AccVerify.

Experience generating testing reports, metrics, and test documentation.

Experience generating and acquiring test data.

3–5+ years of hands-on performance and load testing experience using JMeter, LoadRunner, or similar tools, including scripting, execution, results analysis, and bottleneck identification.

Experience identifying, documenting, and tracking defects in Azure DevOps.

Understanding of the Secure Application Development Lifecycle (SADLC).

Experience with Mobile App Testing for iOS and Android applications.

Experience using Eclipse as a development environment.

Experience with the TestNG framework, including test execution and skip logic.

Experience with advanced performance workload modeling or CI/CD-based performance automation is a plus.

Experience working with API testing tools such as Postman, RESTAssured, or APIRequestContext.
