Senior Instructional Designer - E-Learning & AI-Enabled Learning

Aptask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking a Senior Instructional Designer - E-Learning & AI-Enabled Learning for a position with an enterprise organization located in San Juan, PR. This is a 7+ month contract opportunity.

We are seeking an innovative and experienced Senior Instructional Designer with deep expertise in e-learning, AI-enabled learning (AIE), digital learning, UX design, and multimedia production. This role will lead the end-to-end design and development of engaging, interactive, scalable, and media-rich learning experiences that drive measurable learner and business outcomes. The ideal candidate will combine adult learning theory, instructional design, and AI-powered learning technologies to create modern learner-centric experiences.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop innovative e-learning and AI-enabled learning experiences, including asynchronous, synchronous, mobile, adaptive, and blended learning solutions
• Apply adult learning theory, instructional design methodology, UX principles, and learner-centered design to create effective digital learning experiences
• Conduct needs assessments, learner analysis, audience analysis, and content gap reviews to develop targeted learning solutions
• Lead development of e-learning courses using Articulate Storyline 360, Articulate Rise, Adobe Captivate, and Camtasia
• Design and develop AI-enhanced e-learning experiences, including AI-generated media, personalized learning content, simulations, practice activities, assessments, and learner support tools
• Use generative AI tools to accelerate instructional design activities such as course outlining, storyboarding, scenario development, assessment creation, and multimedia production
• Develop and integrate AI-generated video content using tools such as Synthesia, Pictory, or comparable AI video platforms
• Evaluate and implement emerging AI e-learning technologies
• Create engaging animation, video, and interactive content using Adobe After Effects, Adobe Animate, and Adobe Premiere Pro
• Design learner interfaces, prototypes, wireframes, and mockups using tools such as Figma or Adobe XD
• Build and edit multimedia assets using Adobe Creative Cloud
• Collaborate with SMEs, graphic designers, developers, engineers, AI teams, and business stakeholders
• Establish standards and best practices for the responsible use of AI in learning development
• Ensure learning content is SCORM and/or xAPI compliant and meets accessibility and inclusive-design standards
• Deploy and manage learning through LMS and learning-experience platforms such as Cornerstone or Workday Learning
• Collect and analyze learner data to improve instructional effectiveness and user experience
• Test AI-generated learning content for accuracy, instructional quality, and consistency
• Mentor junior instructional designers and help establish team standards

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Learning Experience Design, Human-Centered Design, or a related field; Master's degree preferred
• 7+ years of instructional design and e-learning development experience, with significant experience designing complex digital learning solutions
• Demonstrated experience incorporating AI-powered tools into instructional design and e-learning development workflows
• Strong hands-on expertise with Articulate Storyline 360, Articulate Rise, Adobe Captivate, and Camtasia
• Experience with AI learning and content-generation platforms such as Synthesia, Pictory, ChatGPT, or comparable generative AI tools
• Ability to use generative AI for storyboarding, scripting, assessment creation, scenario development, and multimedia production
• Strong understanding of prompt development and the ability to refine AI-generated outputs
• Experience designing responsive and mobile-friendly e-learning content
• Strong UX/UI capabilities using Figma, Adobe XD, InVision, or comparable tools
• Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Audition
• Familiarity with instructional design and change methodologies such as ADDIE, SAM, and PROSCI
• Working knowledge of LMS administration, SCORM, xAPI, and digital learning standards
• Strong writing, storytelling, editing, and visual communication skills
• Strong project management and organizational skills within Agile, iterative, or rapid-development environments
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with SMEs, technical teams, creative teams, and business stakeholders

Desired skills:

• Experience designing AI-enabled learning, adaptive learning, AI coaching, simulations, or conversational learning experiences
• Experience developing or supporting AI learning assistants, chatbots, virtual coaches, or intelligent tutoring solutions
• Knowledge of responsible AI practices, including governance, privacy, bias, and human-in-the-loop review
• Experience using AI to accelerate e-learning production while maintaining instructional quality
• Familiarity with learning analytics, learner-behavior data, and AI-driven personalization
• Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design best practices
• Experience using data to evaluate and optimize learning effectiveness
• Experience introducing or scaling new AI learning tools across a learning organization

Pay range: up to $65.00 per hour
