Payment platform Lead

Location : Pittsburgh/ Dallas – Hybrid

 

Skills : Finastra payment platform - Global payment platform, payment experience

Contract Role - W2

 

A Payment Platform Lead manages the architecture, development, scaling, and operational health of core payment processing systems.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Platform Vision & Strategy: Own the end-to-end roadmap for pay-in/pay-out processing, transaction routing, ledger services, and settlement systems.
  • Technical Leadership: Guide backend engineering teams in building scalable, secure, and low-latency APIs and microservices.
  • Compliance & Security: Ensure adherence to financial regulations, data security standards (such as PCI-DSS), and risk management controls.
  • Partner & Vendor Integration: Collaborate with external payment gateways, acquirers, alternative payment methods (APMs), and banking networks.
  • Cross-Functional Execution: Work with product managers, data analysts, and compliance teams to balance system reliability with feature delivery.

 

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: 5+ to 8+ years in software engineering, technical product management, or architecture within fintech, banking, or payments.
  • Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of payment lifecycles, ACH/wire transfers, real-time payments, ISO 20022, or card processing.
  • Technical Stack: Proficiency in modern backend languages (Java, Python, Go, or Node.js), cloud infrastructure (AWS/Google Cloud Platform), and event-driven architectures (Kafka).
  • Leadership: Proven track record of mentoring engineers, driving technical roadmaps, and managing stakeholder alignment
