Naval Architect, Senior | Bryans Road, MD, United States | Hybrid | $120,000 - $150,000

This employer is actively seeking a highly motivated Senior Naval Architect to support a key government maritime agency. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to significant shipbuilding and design programs within a respected organization known for its innovative solutions.

The Role

  • Provide technical expertise and documentation for ship design phases, including feasibility, concept, preliminary, and contract design.
  • Evaluate systems and equipment, develop requirements, and perform analyses related to hull form, stability, weights, and structures.
  • Develop system documentation and ship specifications for surface assets and boats, applying ISO and class society standards.
  • Analyze and perform structural design using industry-standard rules and regulations.
  • Conduct and document vital ship tests, including stability, speed, power, maneuvering, and seakeeping trials.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture or a related technical/engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • A minimum of six years of progressive experience in Naval Architecture.
  • At least one year of experience with U.S. Federal or commercial ship or boat building acquisition programs.
  • Proficiency with naval architecture software for complex hull design problems.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, IACS, or commercial ship design rules and regulations.
  • Eligibility for a Secret security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
