Naval Architect, Senior | Bowie, MD, United States | Hybrid | $120,000 - $150,000

They are seeking a seasoned Naval Architect to contribute to significant shipbuilding programs, offering a dynamic environment for innovation and problem-solving.

The Role

  • Provide expert technical support for all phases of ship design, from feasibility studies to contract design.
  • Evaluate ship systems and equipment, develop requirements, and perform analyses related to hull form, stability, and structure.
  • Develop comprehensive system documentation and ship specifications for various surface assets and boats.
  • Conduct and document crucial tests, including stability tests, performance trials, and seakeeping assessments.
  • Perform structural analysis and design using international and class society standards.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture or a related engineering/marine discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Minimum of six years of progressive experience in Naval Architecture.
  • At least one year of experience with U.S. Federal or commercial ship/boat acquisition programs.
  • Proficiency in naval architecture software for complex hull design problems.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, and commercial ship design rules.
  • Eligibility for a U.S. Secret Security Clearance is required.
