Job Description

Naval Architect, Senior | Lothian, MD, United States | Hybrid | $120,000 - $150,000

This employer is a rapidly growing, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business with a national reputation for providing critical support across the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, and the commercial maritime industry. They are known for delivering innovative solutions in engineering, program management, and technical support for complex challenges.

The Role

  • Provide comprehensive technical support and documentation for ship design phases, including feasibility, concept, preliminary, and contract design.
  • Evaluate ship systems and equipment, analyze requirements, and perform studies related to hull form, stability, weights, and structures.
  • Develop system documentation and detailed ship specifications for surface assets and boats.
  • Conduct and document various ship trials, including stability, speed, power, maneuvering, and seakeeping tests.
  • Perform structural analysis and design in accordance with ISO and class society standards.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture or a related engineering/marine discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of progressive experience in Naval Architecture.
  • At least one (1) year of experience with U.S. Federal or commercial ship or boat building acquisition programs.
  • Proficiency with naval architecture software for complex hull design problems.
  • Knowledge of USN, USCG, IACS, and/or commercial ship design rules and regulations.
  • Eligibility for a U.S. Secret security clearance is required.
