Business Analyst - Data Analytics - RETAIL Exp is Must - W2 Only

Title: Business Analyst Data Analytics
Location: New York, NY, or Greensboro, NC (4 days on-site per week)
Duration: 3-month contract-to-hire

Our client is seeking a hands-on Business Analyst with a strong background in retail data and analytics to support several high-priority reporting and data initiatives. This is an urgent need for someone who can quickly step in, bring structure to business requirements, and help move multiple projects from requirements through delivery.

The ideal candidate will understand how retail organizations use data, reporting, metrics, and KPIs to make business decisions and will be comfortable working closely with both business stakeholders and technical development teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather, document, and translate business requirements for retail reporting and analytics initiatives.
• Work with business stakeholders to understand how they want data presented, including YTD, quarterly, and other reporting views.
• Translate user requirements into clear reporting specifications and partner with developers to deliver reports and dashboards.
• Support multiple concurrent projects, including the integration and migration of an acquired brand from its current data environment to the Client system.
• Support analytics requirements for omni-channel brands, including Joes Jeans and Favorite Daughter.
• Help define and document key retail measures, metrics, and KPIs.
• Work with Power BI and data models to determine how business requirements can be translated into effective reporting solutions.
• Conduct QA and validate reports against business requirements and expected results.
• Partner with technical teams to understand available data and reporting capabilities and help determine what is realistically achievable.
• Bring structure and process to projects where requirements have not yet been fully captured.
• Help the organization move from requirements gathering into active delivery and execution.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, Data Analyst, or similar role.
• Experience working in a retail environment is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of retail data, reporting, metrics, and KPIs; experience with measures such as sales, inventory, returns, and other retail performance indicators.
• Experience gathering and documenting business requirements for data, reporting, or analytics projects.
• Hands-on experience with Power BI and an understanding of data modeling and reporting.
• Experience with Tableau, MicroStrategy, or other business intelligence platforms is a plus.
• Familiarity with SAP-based data or technology environments is preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with both business stakeholders and developers.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand business needs and translate them into practical technical requirements.
• Ability to quickly learn new systems and technologies and understand the art of what is possible within a given data environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment.
