Job Description
Human Resources Director
Location: 100% in downtown Wilmington, DE
Are you an experienced HR leader who enjoys balancing strategy with execution? We're looking for a
Human Resources Director to lead our HR function and help shape the future of our growing organization. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this role provides strategic leadership while remaining actively involved in all facets of Human Resources.

You'll lead an HR team of two HR Managers and one HR Administrator while serving as the primary HR partner for our Corporate employee group of approximately 92 employees. In addition, you'll provide enterprise-wide leadership across multiple divisions—including Food & Beverage, Operating Entities, Real Estate, and Construction—ensuring consistent HR practices, compliance, and exceptional employee support throughout the organization.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a collaborative leader who enjoys developing people, improving processes, and building an HR function that drives business success. Lead the Human Resources Function
Provide strategic direction and day-to-day leadership for the HR department. Coach, mentor, and develop a team of HR professionals while fostering accountability and continuous improvement. Partner with senior leadership on workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, employee relations, succession planning, and talent strategy.

Serve as the trusted advisor and escalation point for complex employee relations matters across the organization. Champion Talent Acquisition
Oversee recruiting operations across all business units. Partner with hiring managers and HR Managers to ensure an efficient, high-quality hiring process and exceptional candidate experience. Coordinate with external recruiting partners to attract top talent for specialized and hard-to-fill positions. Support internship and early talent initiatives.

Oversee employee benefits strategy and administration, including open enrollment, vendor management, employee communications, and ACA reporting. Ensure HR Managers have the tools and expertise to support the unique benefits structures within their assigned divisions. Administer employee leave programs including FMLA, Short-Term Disability, state leave programs, and Workers' Compensation-related documentation. Support payroll administration through review and approval of payroll changes, tax updates, retirement plan administration, and payroll coordination.

Drive Performance & Employee Development
Lead the organization's annual performance review process. Oversee compensation communication, including annual increase and bonus letters. Manage required compliance training, leadership development, onboarding, safety training, and learning initiatives. Ensure Compliance & Risk Management
Oversee compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws. Manage EEO-1 reporting, OSHA logs, ACA reporting, leave compliance, nondiscrimination testing, and regulatory filings.

Maintain accurate HR documentation, records, and reporting while ensuring organizational compliance. Foster Employee Engagement & Culture
Lead employee recognition and engagement programs that strengthen company culture. Coordinate employee events, wellness initiatives, seasonal celebrations, and company-wide communications. Help create an exceptional employee experience that supports retention and engagement. Oversee HR systems, employee records, SharePoint resources, and HR communications. Drive process improvements that increase efficiency, consistency, and service delivery.

Manage HR budgeting activities, benefits billing coordination, vendor relationships, invoice processing, and departmental administration. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Ten or more years of progressive Human Resources leadership experience across employee relations, benefits, payroll, compliance, recruiting, performance management, and leave administration. Experience leading and developing HR professionals in a multi-person HR department.

Strong working knowledge of federal and state employment laws, payroll practices, benefits administration, and HR compliance. Experience with ADP Workforce Now, applicant tracking systems, learning management systems, and HRIS platforms. Exceptional leadership, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills. Ability to manage confidential information with the highest level of professionalism and integrity. SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP, SPHR, PHR, or comparable HR certification. Experience supporting multi-site organizations.

Background in real estate, property management, construction, food and beverage, hospitality, or other operational environments. Experience managing vendor relationships, compliance reporting, and HR process improvement initiatives. Spanish language proficiency is a plus. At our company, HR is viewed as a strategic business partner—not simply a support function. As our Human Resources Director, you'll have the opportunity to influence organizational strategy, mentor an exceptional HR team, improve the employee experience, and help shape the future of a growing, diverse organization.

If you're an experienced HR leader who enjoys developing people, solving complex challenges, and creating practical HR solutions that make a lasting impact, we'd love to hear from you. Join us and help build a workplace where people—and our business—can thrive.
