Mechanical Engineer

Mechanical Engineer We are recruiting on behalf of an established engineering and manufacturing business seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join its Engineering and Product Development team.

This is a hands-on role covering the design, development, testing and manufacture of mechanical products, including safety-critical equipment for demanding environments. You will have the opportunity to take projects from concept through to production, testing and certification.

Key Responsibilities Design components and assemblies using SolidWorks, Autodesk or equivalent CAD.<br />Produce detailed engineering drawings with GD&amp;T, tolerances and manufacturing specifications.<br />Develop prototypes, test rigs and fixtures and support verification testing.<br />Support DFMEA, PFMEA, PPAP and NPI activities.<br />Provide technical support to manufacturing, including root cause analysis and continuous improvement.<br />Work with customers, suppliers and internal engineering teams to resolve technical and manufacturing issues.Experience &amp; Skills Proven mechanical design experience within manufacturing or safety-critical environments.<br />Strong 3D CAD and technical drawing skills.<br />Good knowledge of GD&amp;T, materials, tolerances and manufacturing processes.<br />Practical experience in prototyping and product development.<br />Understanding of testing, verification and regulatory requirements.<br />Experience with CNC machining, injection moulding, forging or assembly is advantageous.Desirable HND or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.<br />Experience with military/MOD, fire &amp; rescue, marine, defence or industrial safety equipment.<br />Experience designing products for extreme environments, including pressure, corrosion, depth or temperature.<br />Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement.<br />Experience with certification bodies or regulatory authorities.<br />Experience in hydraulic, pneumatic, SCUBA/SCBA or safety-critical applications.The Opportunity A varied, hands-on opportunity for a practical and technically minded Mechanical Engineer to take ownership of projects from concept through to production while working across design, testing, manufacturing and product development.
