Cloud Architect - HYBRID! with Security Clearance

Mindbank Consulting Group has an immediate need for an experienced Cloud Architect with an active Top Secret with SCI eligibility to support a DoD program in San Diego, California. We’re looking for a senior technical architect to design secure AWS and Azure environments; architect how applications, data, and services move between cloud, on-premises, and tactical edge environments; account for classified and multi-level security requirements; and provide the technical direction for engineering teams implementing those solutions.

Location: San Diego, CA - onsite with option for a flexible/hybrid 50/50 working environment
Compensation: Up to $180,000

Travel: Approximately 5%, CONUS and OCONUS
Employment: Direct-hire, W-2 Duties • Design secure, scalable cloud architectures supporting DoD mission requirements. • Design solutions across AWS and Azure, including government cloud environments. • Develop hybrid cloud architectures integrating cloud services with on-premises, tactical, and edge computing environments. • Define how applications, data, and services are deployed and communicate across distributed environments. • Design architectures supporting classified, unclassified, multi-classification, and multi-level environments, including consideration of cross-domain requirements. • Establish architecture for secure application deployment using modern DevSecOps practices. • Provide technical direction for CI/CD, automation, Infrastructure as Code, configuration management, and secure deployment processes. • Design and support containerized and distributed environments using technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker. • Evaluate technical options, conduct architecture reviews and trade studies, and make recommendations based on requirements, security, performance, scalability, and operational considerations. • Incorporate cybersecurity requirements into architecture and design, including RMF, NIST, STIGs, Zero Trust, and DoD Impact Level requirements. • Work closely with cloud engineers, platform engineers, software engineers, DevSecOps teams, cybersecurity professionals, and government stakeholders. • Provide technical leadership and guidance throughout architecture, implementation, deployment, and troubleshooting. • Support resilient cloud capabilities across distributed and tactical operational environments.

Citizenship required; no dual citizenship. • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility. • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience. • 8–12 years of professional experience in cloud architecture, solutions architecture, platform engineering, DevOps/DevSecOps, distributed systems, or related areas, including at least 5 years of hands-on experience designing and implementing cloud architectures. • Demonstrated experience designing and deploying solutions in AWS, Azure, or both. • Experience with secure cloud or hybrid environments. • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, such as Terraform or CloudFormation. • Experience with containerization technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker. • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation, and secure deployment practices. • Strong understanding of cloud networking, identity, storage, compute, security, and monitoring. • Ability to provide technical leadership across cross-functional engineering and stakeholder teams.

Preferred Experience • AWS GovCloud and/or Azure Government. • Hybrid cloud architecture integrating cloud with on-premises or edge environments. • Tactical edge or distributed computing environments. • DoD, Intelligence Community, Navy, Marine Corps, DISA, Joint, or other classified environments. • RMF, NIST, STIGs, Zero Trust, and DoD Impact Levels 4, 5, or 6. • Multi-classification, cross-domain, or multi-level security environments. • DevSecOps and CI/CD technologies such as GitLab, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions. • Infrastructure as Code and automation using Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, YAML, or JSON. • Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, EKS, and/or service mesh technologies. • Microservices, distributed systems, data streaming, event-driven architectures, or real-time analytics. • Experience progressing from a hands-on DevOps, Platform Engineering, SRE, or cloud engineering role into architecture. • Experience designing enterprise platforms that support multiple applications and engineering teams.
