Job Description

Azure Cloud Operations & Engineering
  • Design, implement, maintain, and support Microsoft Azure cloud resources.
  • Ensure compliance with Virginia security, IAM, networking, and cloud cost-governance policies.
  • Maintain cloud documentation, naming conventions, tagging standards, and governance artifacts.
  • Manage access reviews, role assignments, and least-privilege IAM.
  • Implement highly available and fault-tolerant Azure solutions.
  • Manage vendor-required updates and compatibility.
Monitoring & Troubleshooting
  • Monitor Azure services and application workloads for uptime and availability.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity, access, security, application performance, and service issues.
  • Perform diagnostics using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, logs, metrics, and traces.
  • Analyze and tune cloud/system/application performance.
Operational Support
  • Participate in operational monitoring, incident reviews, maintenance readiness, and production support.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and document root-cause analysis.
  • Create change requests, implementation plans, and rollback procedures.
  • Support off-hours activities when required.
Security, Data & Compliance
  • Understand end-to-end data flows across tolling systems, roadway data, financial transactions, and reporting platforms.
  • Support application integrations and data movement optimization.
  • Manage Key Vaults, secrets, passwords, certificates, and secure credential storage.
  • Apply PCI and other regulatory compliance requirements.
Collaboration
  • Work with architects, engineers, managers, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
  • Provide guidance on SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS solutions.
  • Support multiple concurrent technical projects and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years Microsoft Azure administration/engineering
  • 5+ years Windows Server environments (2019+)
  • 3+ years VDOT / E-ZPass Virginia tolling applications, infrastructure, and cloud workloads
  • 2+ years server infrastructure, protocols, firewalls, certificates, and load balancers
  • 2+ years networking, Windows/Linux server administration, databases, and cloud environments
  • 2+ years implementing Rubrik backup & recovery for Azure IaaS/PaaS
  • 2+ years PowerShell and/or Python scripting
  • 2+ years administering SecretServer privileged access vaults
  • 1+ year Office 365 and Power Apps
  • 1+ year Entra ID / Single Sign-On / identity administration
  • 1+ year PCI or similar compliance frameworks
  • 1+ year enterprise cloud governance
  • Experience with Azure Virtual Desktops (AVD)

Preferred / Desired Skills

  • Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Git, or TFS
  • Terraform / Infrastructure as Code
  • Docker / Kubernetes
  • Azure Key Vault and certificate management
  • Cloud cost analysis and optimization
  • Azure Virtual Desktop
  • Azure certification AZ-104, AZ-305, or similar

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
