We are seeking an Aeronautical Engineer with expertise in structural and thermal analysis to support advanced aerospace propulsion programs. The role involves developing finite element models, performing thermo-structural simulations, evaluating materials behavior, and providing analytical support for design, testing, and failure investigations. The ideal candidate will have experience using ANSYS tools and strong knowledge of structural mechanics and thermal analysis.

About the Role
We are seeking an Aeronautical Engineer with expertise in structural and thermal analysis to support advanced aerospace propulsion programs. The role involves developing finite element models, performing thermo-structural simulations, evaluating materials behavior, and providing analytical support for design, testing, and failure investigations. The ideal candidate will have experience using ANSYS tools and strong knowledge of structural mechanics and thermal analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute structural and thermo-structural analysis models using finite element methods.
- Create analytical approaches to resolve complex structural mechanics and materials-related issues.
- Develop simulation models, including meshing, boundary conditions, constraints, and material properties.
- Perform thermal and structural analyses to support product design and development.
- Interpret analytical results and provide recommendations for design improvements.
- Prepare technical reports and deliver presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Assess test hardware and analyze test data to validate analytical models.
- Develop material models and support material characterization efforts.
- Assist in material test planning, test method selection, and data interpretation.
- Support failure investigations through fault-tree analysis and root-cause assessment.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on design-of-experiments activities.
- Maintain and manage engineering data, design documentation, and simulation models.
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
- Experience with ANSYS Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Strong experience using ANSYS Mechanical.
- Experience performing Structural Analysis.
- Experience performing Thermal Analysis.
- Knowledge of finite element modeling methodologies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project).
- Ability to interpret analytical results and communicate technical findings.
- Experience with ANSYS APDL.
- Experience with ANSYS Classic.
- Experience analyzing air-breathing propulsion systems.
- Experience supporting rocket motor programs.
- Experience with metals and composite material analysis.
- Knowledge of nonlinear material behavior in FEA simulations.
- Experience with fatigue and damage tolerance analysis.
- Experience using NASGRO or similar tools.
- Material modeling and material characterization experience.
