Project Audit Lead

Varmoda is seeking a Project Audit Lead to perform the statutory independent project audit of the Modernization project. The ideal candidate has 8+ years in IT audit, IV&V or project assurance. They can judge compliance and project health, find root causes, and write remediation plans that management can follow.

Roles and responsibilities

• Write the Project Audit Plan, covering the methodology, how findings will be validated, and the timeline with agency time estimates.
• Review project activities against applicable policies and standards, and assess how well-positioned the project is to succeed.
• Investigate the root cause of each issue affecting the project's likelihood of success.
• Write a remediation plan for every finding, with clear, actionable recommendations.
• Prepare the Final Project Audit Report with supporting materials.
• Present the audit results to key business and technical executives

Relevant experience

8+ years in IT audit, IV&V or quality assurance. At least 3 years on government projects over $5M. Experience auditing software development, SDLC controls, vendor management and project governance.

Relevant skills

Audit frameworks (COBIT, NIST SP 800-53, ISO 27001, PMBOK). SDLC and Agile review. Evidence collection and workpapers. Findings and POA&M tracking. Excel, SharePoint, Jira and Azure DevOps.

Education

Bachelor's degree in IT, Accounting Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field.

Certification

CISA (required). PMP, CIA, CISSP or CGEIT are preferred.
