Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Tech Lead / Architect specializing in TPF and z/TPF mainframe systems to lead the architecture, development, modernization, and performance optimization of high-volume transaction processing environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in TPF Assembler, C/C++ programming, IBM Z-Series architecture, and airline transaction systems.

This role requires a hands-on technical leader who can define architectural strategies, drive legacy modernization initiatives, establish development standards, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and high-performance transaction processing solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end architecture and design of TPF/z/TPF transaction processing systems.

  • Define and execute modernization roadmaps for legacy TPF environments, including TPF-to-z/TPF migration and Assembler-to-C modernization.

  • Drive architectural decisions related to ECB design, storage management, storage pools, and TPFDF data management.

  • Design, develop, and optimize mainframe applications using TPF Assembler, C, and C++.

  • Implement and support z/TPF capabilities, including 64-bit architecture, TCP/IP, XML, and web services.

  • Establish coding standards, architectural guidelines, and development best practices.

  • Lead performance tuning, capacity optimization, and bottleneck analysis across transaction processing subsystems.

  • Review and approve High-Level Design (HLD), Low-Level Design (LLD), code reviews, and test plans.

  • Oversee technical integration with SELCAL, OAG, airline systems, and Global Distribution Systems (GDS).

  • Lead and mentor TPF developers, testers, and systems programmers across cross-functional teams.

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for client stakeholders, business teams, and delivery partners.

  • Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, and security teams to ensure end-to-end solution delivery.

  • Participate in architecture reviews, Agile sprints, technical planning, and executive status reporting.

Required Technical Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with TPF Assembler and IBM z/TPF.

  • Expertise in IBM Z-Series mainframe architecture, LPAR, and Coupling Facility (CF).

  • Proficiency in C/C++ programming on z/TPF, including ECB and storage management.

  • Experience leading end-to-end architecture for TPF/z/TPF transaction processing systems.

  • Strong understanding of ECB design, storage pools, and TPFDF data management.

  • Experience with z/TPF capabilities, including 64-bit support, TCP/IP, XML, and web services.

  • Proven experience in mainframe modernization, including TPF-to-z/TPF migration and Assembler-to-C migration.

  • Strong background in performance tuning, subsystem optimization, and root-cause analysis.

  • Experience with HLD/LLD reviews, coding standards, technical governance, and software testing.

  • Knowledge of airline transaction systems, SELCAL, OAG, and GDS integrations.

  • Strong technical leadership, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
