Job Description

Sales Engineer / Business Development Manager Columbia Research Laboratories, a leading manufacturer of sensors used in aerospace, military, and industrial markets, is seeking a motivated Sales Engineer / Business Development professional focused on generating new business and expanding Columbia’s presence within the aerospace and defense industries. This role will focus on finding new programs and applications for our sensors within our current customer organizations, while also developing new customers and business opportunities outside of Columbia’s current customer base. The ideal candidate will take a proactive approach to identifying new opportunities, establishing relationships with engineering, procurement, and program personnel, and introducing Columbia’s sensor capabilities to organizations and programs where our products may be a fit.
Primary Duties

  • Market Columbia’s product line and develop new business opportunities with both current and potential customers.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term customer relationships.
  • Identify new programs, applications, and sensor requirements in the aerospace, defense, and industrial markets.
  • Develop a strong understanding of Columbia’s product line, applications, and customer use cases.
  • Meet monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals.
  • Stay informed of competitors, market conditions, industry developments, and complimentary programs.
  • Provide updates to our management team regarding sales activity, customer feedback, and opportunity development.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of technical sales experience in the aerospace/defense industry preferred.
  • Technical understanding or background in sensors, instrumentation, or related electromechanical products is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop leads, manage opportunities, and grow sales
  • Working knowledge of ITAR regulations preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain professional, ongoing customer relationships.
  • Strong negotiation and follow-up skills.
  • self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • United States citizenship is required.
