The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Developer to design, build, and support scalable cloud-native applications, APIs, and distributed microservices using Java and AWS technologies. This is a hands on engineering role requiring strong experience with Java 21, Spring Boot or Micronaut, RESTful APIs, TM Forum Open API standards, and AWS services. You will collaborate with architects, product owners, developers, and delivery teams to build secure, resilient, and high performing digital solutions while contributing to technical design, DevOps practices, and engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices using Java 21.
• Develop and enhance APIs aligned with TM Forum Open API standards.
• Design scalable, secure, resilient, and high performing backend solutions.
• Build, deploy, and support cloud-native applications across AWS environments.
• Develop microservices using Spring Boot, Micronaut, and modern Java frameworks.
• Build and manage API integrations using APIGEE and AWS API Gateway.
• Implement API authentication, authorisation, security, and performance optimisation practices.
• Develop containerised applications using Docker.
• Deploy and support workloads using AWS ECS Fargate, Lambda, and related services.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
• Monitor application performance and analyse logs using Splunk.
• Troubleshoot complex application, API, integration, and cloud platform issues.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, and cross functional delivery teams.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and solution planning.
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to broader engineering capability.
• Ensure adherence to coding standards, security requirements, and software engineering best practices.

What You'll Need

• Strong hands on development experience with Java 21.
• Extensive experience with Spring Boot or Micronaut frameworks.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Proven experience designing, developing, and integrating RESTful APIs.
• Experience working with TM Forum Open API standards is essential.
• Strong experience with AWS cloud services, including ECS Fargate, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, CloudFront, and DynamoDB.
• Hands on experience with APIGEE API Management.
• Strong experience developing and deploying containerised applications using Docker.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
• Experience with application monitoring and log analysis using Splunk.
• Strong knowledge of software design patterns, secure coding, and performance tuning.
• Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, JWT, OpenID Connect, and API security standards is highly regarded.
• Experience within telecommunications, digital platforms, or enterprise API ecosystems is highly desirable.
• Experience working within Agile or Scrum delivery environments is advantageous.
• Experience delivering solutions within large scale enterprise environments is highly regarded.
• AWS certifications are advantageous.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage technical and business stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring developers and contributing to technical leadership activities is highly regarded.
