Job Description

Healthcare IT Project Manager – Medicaid Systems Implementation

Location: Boise, Idaho
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Contract: 15+ months with potential to extend or convert to full-time
Interview: Webcam or In-Person

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced healthcare IT project manager to lead the implementation of enterprise healthcare information systems and data-related components. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technology project management, vendor coordination, project governance, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.

This role involves coordinating multiple vendors and internal teams through planning, implementation, testing, go-live, and certification activities while ensuring project schedules, deliverables, and business requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end implementation of healthcare information system modules and components.

  • Define and manage project scope, schedules, budgets, implementation plans, milestones, and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Coordinate multiple vendors, project managers, technical teams, and business stakeholders through a master project schedule.

  • Establish and maintain project governance, track deliverables, and monitor risks, dependencies, and timelines.

  • Coordinate resources across vendor and internal teams throughout planning, implementation, go-live, and certification.

  • Ensure project deliverables meet business requirements and enterprise data warehousing (EDW) objectives.

  • Support requirements gathering and prioritize data aggregation, analytics, and reporting deliverables.

  • Monitor project progress, identify schedule or delivery issues early, and implement corrective actions.

  • Manage critical paths, dependencies, risks, and issues to keep projects on track.

  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and provide clear, timely project updates.

  • Prepare and present project status, risks, milestones, and outcomes to executive leadership and other key audiences.

  • Support change management, training coordination, and communication to facilitate successful system adoption.

  • Coordinate legacy system conversion and transition activities where required.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management experience delivering technology projects in healthcare or state government environments.

  • Experience managing complex projects involving multiple vendors, teams, and stakeholders.

  • Strong project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management skills.

  • Experience developing and maintaining project schedules, milestones, deliverables, and critical paths.

  • Ability to gather business requirements and prioritize data, analytics, and reporting deliverables.

  • Strong issue identification, escalation, and resolution skills.

  • Experience identifying key stakeholders and developing engagement and communication strategies.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and decision-making abilities.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver projects within established timelines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with state government agencies.

  • Experience supporting Medicaid systems or Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS).

  • Experience with healthcare system implementation and modernization.

  • Experience with enterprise data warehousing (EDW), data aggregation, analytics, and reporting.

  • Experience converting data or systems from legacy platforms to modern solutions.

  • Experience coordinating system implementation, go-live, and certification activities.

  • Experience with change management, end-user training, and organizational communications.

  • Experience working in regulated public-sector healthcare environments.
