Senior Design Systems Designer – Figma, AI & Accessibility

Position Overview

Own and evolve an enterprise design system across web and native applications. Partner with design, engineering, accessibility, and AI teams to build scalable tokens, components, patterns, documentation, and governance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain Figma components, patterns, variants, and design tokens through production.

• Build scalable token architecture for color, typography, spacing, radius, and motion.

• Ensure tokens translate effectively into cross-platform code.

• Establish design-system governance, contribution models, versioning, reviews, and deprecation.

• Maintain documentation covering component usage, states, examples, and guidance.

• Build machine-readable design-system metadata and context for AI-assisted development.

• Review AI-generated documentation and design-system output for quality and consistency.

• Build accessibility into components to WCAG 2.2 AA standards and validate with keyboard and screen-reader testing.

• Use AI and agentic coding tools for component exploration, documentation, validation, and prototyping.

• Help define how AI tools consume and contribute to the design system.

• Drive adoption by partnering with designers, product owners, and engineers.

• Use adoption, usage, drift, and accessibility data to prioritize system improvements.

Required Qualifications

• Advanced Figma expertise, including Design Tokens, Variables, components, variants, and library architecture.

• Experience creating and maintaining Figma plugins.

• Experience with Figma MCP and Code Connect.

• Ability to create and maintain skill.md files for AI automation.

• Working knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA at the component level.

• Front-end knowledge of HTML, CSS, React, or similar technologies.

• Experience with AI coding tools and AI-assisted design workflows.

• Strong technical writing, presentation, communication, and facilitation skills.

• Ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with iOS and Android design systems.

• Enterprise or regulated-industry design experience.

• Financial services or insurance experience.

• Experience with Tokens Studio, Style Dictionary, or similar token tooling.

• Experience with Storybook, zeroheight, or Supernova.

• Experience with MCP-based context delivery.

• Experience leading design-system migrations and driving adoption.

• Multi-brand, localization, automated accessibility, or visual regression testing experience.
