Position Summary

Defined Software Development is seeking an experienced Business Analyst for a remote contract consulting opportunity supporting enterprise application modernization and ongoing application maintenance.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in business analysis, requirements gathering, Agile development, Azure DevOps, technical documentation, automated testing, REST API testing, and User Acceptance Testing. This role will serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and development teams, supporting the planning, design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of business applications.

Florida residency is preferred. Candidates must be available to work in Tallahassee, FL if required.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a liaison between business owners, project leadership, stakeholders, and development teams.

• Coordinate and facilitate Joint Application Development (JAD) sessions, requirements-gathering meetings, and stakeholder discussions.

• Analyze business processes and existing systems documentation to identify business process and data requirements.

• Translate business requirements into functional specifications, technical specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.

• Develop mock-ups, process models, process flows, and supporting documentation.

• Support Agile development activities using Microsoft Azure DevOps and/or Team Foundation Server (TFS).

• Create and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and data dictionaries.

• Support application modernization and ongoing maintenance of existing business applications.

• Design, maintain, and scale custom automated testing frameworks, including frameworks using the Page Object Model.

• Design, write, execute, and update automated test scripts using Selenium or similar tools.

• Maintain automation scripts as user interfaces change and new features are deployed.

• Test REST APIs and microservices, including endpoint validation, contract checks, and payload verification.

• Develop manual test scenarios and validate application functionality against business requirements.

• Collaborate with QA teams, coordinate UAT schedules, conduct UAT sessions, and guide business testers through application workflows.

• Ensure project documentation and deliverables align with applicable technology lifecycle, security, and accessibility standards.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

• Minimum 7 years of IT business/industry experience.

• Minimum 7 years of experience performing business analysis on IT projects.

• Minimum 7 years of experience with Agile software development methodologies.

• Minimum 7 years of experience gathering requirements.

• Minimum 7 years of experience with Microsoft Azure DevOps and/or Team Foundation Server (TFS).

• Minimum 7 years of experience conducting JAD sessions with client stakeholders and subject matter experts.

• Minimum 7 years of experience designing, maintaining, and scaling custom automated testing frameworks from scratch, such as frameworks using the Page Object Model.

• Minimum 7 years of experience designing, writing, and executing automated test scripts using Selenium or similar tools to validate system functionality and identify software defects.

• Minimum 7 years of experience generating and updating automation scripts to accommodate UI changes and new feature deployments.

• Minimum 5 years of experience testing REST APIs and microservices, including endpoint validation, contract checks, and payload verification using Insomnia or similar tools.

• Proficiency with Postman, Insomnia, or comparable REST API testing tools.

• Minimum 7 years of experience translating functional specifications into technical specifications for development teams.

• Minimum 7 years of experience translating business requirements into use cases, user stories, and acceptance criteria.

• Minimum 7 years of experience translating meetings and written materials into mock-ups, process models, and process flows.

• Minimum 7 years of experience creating technical documentation and standard operating procedures.

• Minimum 7 years of experience collaborating with QA teams, coordinating UAT schedules, conducting UAT sessions, and guiding business testers.

• Minimum 7 years of experience with process modeling and diagramming tools, such as Microsoft Visio.

• Minimum 5 years of manual testing experience, including authoring test scenarios and validating functionality against business requirements.

• Experience deriving business process and data requirements from process and systems documentation.

• Experience creating data dictionaries.

• Strong verbal communication, business writing, technical writing, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.

• Ability to complete required background screening, confidentiality agreements, security awareness training, and CJIS certification.
