A typical design engineer analyzes customer cooling requirements, and then designs, tests, and develops hardware to meet those needs.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Create new or modify existing cooling components or systems based on customer/project requirements through extensive collaboration.
  • Work as part of a project team to coordinate component/system development and determine project scope and limitations.
  • Review project requests describing customer needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project.
  • High ability to work independently and manage one s time.
  • Intermediate knowledge of a cooling component/system development lifecycle: from customer engagement, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to design development, testing and product delivery.
  • Intermediate ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issues.
  • Basic knowledge of thermodynamics, thermal simulation and structural analysis.
  • High knowledge of Creo 3D modeling tools, Teamcenter processes and print creation/releasing.
Job contributions to Work Group:
  • Designs, develops, builds, and implements new cooling system components, products, or technologies.
  • 3D design components/systems Organizing, coordinating, and executing the building, testing, and analysis of prototypes.

  • Developing and documenting functional requirements and translating into detail design documents. Participating in buy-build analysis for product components.
  • Participating in and supporting proposal preparation, cost estimates, and technical reports.
Typical task breakdown:
  • Builds three-dimensional models with basic materials.
  • Communicates with cross-function engineering teams (internally and externally) to understand various requirements of product design.
  • Tests and evaluates alternative means of production being considered for use.
  • Uses automated tools to design or modify the design of a product.
  • Assists in building a complex prototype of product.

Technical Skills (Required)
  • Knowledge of cooling systems technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
  • Generates specifications for parts or components with Creo CAD software.
  • Reuses design components via reusable libraries following standard procedures.
  • Uses Creo CAD to perform intermediate drafting such as wire frames, solid objects and array of objects, including but not limited to fabrications, castings and modular assemblies.
  • Performs routine changes to computerized schematics or drawings.
  • Creates views of objects in 2 and 3 dimensions; creates perspective drawings and orthogonal views. Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Soft Skills (Required)
