Senior Manager, Full Stack Development – Python / Go / Java, AWS (Healthcare Claims)

About the opportunity

Our client is a technology consulting and delivery firm serving major US health plans. They are hiring Senior Managers to lead the engineering teams that build highly available, distributed claims systems on AWS. You will lead multiple teams, including Managers and Technical Leads, own the technical roadmap, and be the engineering lead for client executives.

What you'll do

• Lead multiple full stack engineering teams, including Managers and Technical Leads
• Own the architecture and technical roadmap for distributed claims systems on AWS and Kubernetes (EKS / OpenShift)
• Set engineering standards and an automation-first culture across CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code and testing
• Lead AWS strategy for cost, security and resilience
• Own program delivery commitments, escalations and risk
• Hire, develop and retain senior engineering talent
• Drive adoption and governance of AI-assisted engineering across teams

What you'll bring

• 12+ years of software engineering, including 5+ years in senior engineering leadership
• Expert-level Python plus Go or Java
• Deep hands-on AWS experience, including running containers on EKS / Kubernetes
• Strong distributed systems fundamentals: fault tolerance, messaging (Kafka, SQS/SNS) and data partitioning
• Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation or Ansible) and CI/CD at program scale
• Experience leading multiple teams, including hiring and performance management
• Executive presence with client and internal stakeholders
• Daily use of AI development tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) and working knowledge of LLM patterns such as RAG, embeddings and MCP
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field

• US health plan / payer experience: claims, enrollment, benefits, HIPAA
• Red Hat OpenShift experience
• Node.js
• HL7, FHIR or X12 EDI
• Consulting or professional services background, including RFPs and solution design
