IT Sr Consultant 5 – Linux & VMware Infrastructure with Security Clearance

CORE TECHNOLOGIES: Linux • VMware • vSphere • VCF • TLS • Ansible • Confluence OVERVIEW The Information Technology Senior Consultant Level 5 provides expert guidance, advanced troubleshooting, and leadership across enterprise infrastructure systems. This senior role supports CIS Infrastructure Services through hands on Linux administration, virtualization engineering, hardware maintenance, security compliance, and project leadership.

The ITSC5 also advises on complex IT solutions and leads medium to large technical initiatives defined by government stakeholders. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide Tier 1 & Tier 2 troubleshooting for system issues, including diagnosis and resolution across client/server/storage/network devices.

• Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Linux and Windows operating systems; install OS patches to maintain security compliance and improve system reliability.
• Perform server and hardware maintenance, ensuring continuity of operations and proper lifecycle upkeep.
• Manage and update Linux patches, STIG compliance findings (STE/STN), and remediation of security vulnerabilities.
• Renew Linux server certificates and apply updates to TLS security versions.
• Administer VMware, vSphere, and VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environments.
• Add/remove user accounts, set permissions, and enforce access policies aligned with operational requirements.
• Support system and mission architecture design, including hardware integration.
• Leverage Ansible automation to streamline updates, patching workflows, and configuration consistency.
• Update documentation such as SOPs, troubleshooting steps, and solutions in Confluence for team knowledge management.
• Provide highly specialized technical guidance for complex IT challenges, advising engineers and system owners on advanced solutions.
• Lead medium to large infrastructure projects and major phases of enterprise IT initiatives. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE • IAT Level II (Security+ CE, GSEC, CySA+, CCNA Security, or GICSP)
• Demonstrated experience leading complex IT projects and providing expert technical guidance on enterprise infrastructure.
• Senior level Linux systems administration experience (required).
• Experience in: o VMware, vSphere, VCF administration o Server and hardware lifecycle maintenance o OS patching, STIG remediation, vulnerability management o Certificate renewal and TLS version updates o Multi tier troubleshooting for storage, compute, and network systems o Developing documentation and SOPs for distributed IT teams
• Ability to architect improvements, diagnose complex issues, and deliver solutions across large technical environments. REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS • Senior Linux administration
