Job Description

Job Title: Test Engineer
Duration: 3+ years
Client: Defense Research Lab
Location: Lexington, MA 02421

Description: Develops procedures, methods and tools for test, verification, and certification of products. Validates testing activities and results of manufacturing equipment and/or hardware. Participates in design verification of new equipment or hardware. Participates in preparing product compliance documentation. Develops procedures and tools for testing, calibration, and verification of the equipment. Ensures the equipment is properly tested, calibrated, and certified according to the corresponding procedures. Ensures accurate document, record and archive measurement data pertaining to product. Responsible for testing parameters and process control performance.

Background/Need: The Group specializes in advanced network and communications systems development, with a focus on tactical mobile, military airborne networks of the future. The Group uses a combination of technical analysis, modeling, simulation, emulation, prototype development, and ight evaluation to develop new communication systems and evaluate and predict their performance under expected conditions.

This position will be responsible for helping integrate and test software components in a testbed for space network field experimentation capabilities. This testbed consists of containers, custom programs, and graphical elements.

Must Have:

  • Network virtualization (NFV) concepts
  • TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), and network segmentation
  • API Testing and Integration (RESTful APIs, GRPC, YANG Models, etc.)
  • Test plan development, execution, and documentation
  • Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing
  • Regression testing and automated test framework development
  • Python Programming
  • Bash/shell scripting
  • Linux Operating System Fundamentals
  • Version control systems (Git)
  • Packet analysis tools (Wireshark, tcpdump)

Nice to have:

  • Understanding of Software-Defined Networking
  • Network simulation/emulation tools
  • Understanding of network orchestration and automation frameworks
  • Ansible or other configuration management tools
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

Others:

  • Clearance: Candidates should have an active clearance (secret/top secret, etc.) in order to be considered for this position due to the nature of the work being done. Top Secret clearance is highly preferred as this may be required in the future. Do not submit candidates if they do not meet this requirement.
  • Work Location: This position will be 100% onsite due to the nature of the work. There may be some remote flexibility on a case-by-case basis but there are no regular remote days.
  • Interview Process: 1st round interview will be a Zoom with the hiring manager. 2nd round interview will be a Zoom with additional team members as needed.
