We are looking for an AI Consultant to support advanced analytics and machine learning initiatives for a Hi Tech Engineering organization in Des Moines, Iowa. This Long-term Contract position will partner closely with business and technical stakeholders to turn complex questions into practical, data-driven solutions while strengthening internal AI and analytics capabilities. The ideal candidate brings strong Python-based analytical expertise and can clearly recommend the most effective modeling, forecasting, or statistical approach for each use case.

Responsibilities

Partner with stakeholders to define business objectives and convert them into actionable AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics plans. Build, review, and refine Python-based analysis using appropriate methods for data preparation, modeling, statistical evaluation, and insight generation. Examine large and complex datasets to uncover anomalies, trends, outliers, and other meaningful patterns that inform decision-making. Assess existing analytical and machine learning models, recommend suitable algorithms, and outline practical next steps for improvement.

Evaluate anomaly detection methods and suggest alternative techniques when current approaches do not align with the data or business need. Advise on forecasting and predictive modeling strategies by selecting methodologies that best fit available data and intended outcomes. Validate data quality and determine whether datasets are suitable for machine learning, predictive analytics, or traditional analytical methods. Work alongside the internal data analyst to troubleshoot analytical work, expand team knowledge, and strengthen overall AI and ML capabilities.

Communicate technical findings and methodological recommendations clearly to both technical audiences and non-technical stakeholders, including client-facing discussions. Requirements
At least 1 year of experience in AI, machine learning, advanced analytics, or a closely related consulting role. Strong hands-on Python skills with experience in data analysis, statistical modeling, machine learning, and data manipulation. Practical experience with Python libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, SciPy, statsmodels, or similar data science tools.

Knowledge of anomaly detection, predictive modeling, time-series analysis, statistical forecasting, and model evaluation techniques. Ability to determine when AI or machine learning is the right solution and when a traditional statistical approach is more appropriate. Experience assessing model performance, reviewing analytical outputs, and improving existing Python-based work. Strong requirement-gathering and discovery skills with the ability to connect business problems to analytical solutions.

Effective communication skills with the ability to explain AI and ML concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Technology Doesn't Change the World, People Do.
