ABR Employment Services has an immediate opening with a premiere food manufacturing client. This is a temporary position with potential try-before-hire opportunity for dependable, high-performing individuals. Featuring an overnight 2nd shift on a rotating 2-2-3 schedule (4:00 PM - 4:00 AM), comprehensive on-the-job training, and excellent long-term advancement potential, this role is a great fit for mechanically inclined candidates ready to run advanced automated processing systems.
Hours:
2nd Shift: 4:00 p.m. - 4:00 a.m., Rotating 2-2-3 schedule (Asiago plant)
Wage:
$31.70 per hour base + $2.50 per hour shift premium ($34.20/hr total on 2nd shift)

SUMMARY:
The Whey Systems Operator is responsible for the start-up, shutdown, and sanitation of all whey plant processes, including operating the whey separator, producing concentrated whey using a reverse osmosis system, running heat treatment systems, and operating a polisher system according to established company procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Start up and operate whey separator to produce whey cream from raw whey produced during cheesemaking.
  • Operate reverse osmosis polisher systems to produce high-quality concentrated whey by monitoring and controlling flow rates, pressures, and temperatures.
  • Direct finished products to proper storage tanks and perform quality testing throughout operation.
  • Monitor product levels, flows, and temperatures across raw whey tanks, whey cream tanks, cow water tanks, product balance tanks, and reverse osmosis systems; record details on production log sheets.
  • Maintain USDA compliance for all Whey Protein Concentrate (WPC) procedures.
  • Test outgoing loads and complete required shipping documentation.
  • Manage whey plant cleaning chemicals, keep supply barrels stocked, and assist with unloading and storing chemical shipments.
  • Perform automated wash cycles on the RO system, whey heat treat, polished water system, whey tanks, and reserve silos.
  • Comply with all company safety standards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP); immediately report any quality or food safety concerns.
  • Assist in other production areas, assist in equipment teardowns (separators, RO units, heat exchangers), and troubleshoot mechanical issues as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency required (GED).
  • Previous food manufacturing, dairy processing, or automated machinery operation experience is a plus (will train!).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfortable operating computerized interfaces / automated control panels.
  • Solid math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals).
  • Good written and verbal communication skills to complete production logs, follow safety procedures, and coordinate with team members and drivers.
  • Willingness to complete on-the-job training and internal certifications (including antibiotic testing on incoming milk).

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and handle tools or controls throughout a 12-hour shift.
  • Frequently lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Safely maneuver barrels of chemicals weighing up to 550 lbs using a two-wheeled barrel dolly.
  • Work is performed in a fast-paced food processing facility with exposure to wet/humid conditions, heat, cleaning chemicals, elevated catwalks/towers, and loud equipment (all required safety equipment and PPE provided).
