Principal Systems Engineer | Gosport, United Kingdom | On-site | £58,000 (dependent on skills and experience) + 10% bonus

The Role

  • Apply Systems Thinking to understand complex problem spaces, manage constraints, and balance trade-offs.
  • Shape system architectures and interfaces, ensuring clear definition of system interactions.
  • Provide strong Requirements Leadership and Management by capturing, decomposing, and agreeing requirements, maintaining traceability.
  • Champion Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) by modeling system behaviour, structure, and interfaces.
  • Contribute to Lifecycle Delivery & Systems Integration by tailoring processes and planning integration activities.
  • Provide technical leadership, engage with customers and suppliers, and mentor engineers.

What You'll Need

  • Strong experience in applying systems engineering across the lifecycle, including requirements management, architecture definition, integration, MBSE, and V&V.
  • Experience with high-level design methodologies and architectures (e.g., UAF, NAF, TOGAF, SysML, UML) and practical MBSE capability using tools like Enterprise Architect.
  • Experience using requirements and interface management toolsets (e.g., DOORS).
  • Knowledge of applying Systems Engineering standards and principles, including ISO 15288.
  • Exposure to system integration and verification activities.
  • Degree-qualified (or equivalent experience) in a STEM or systems-related discipline, working towards CEng or operating at that capability level.
