Job Description

  • Design and detail ASME shell-and-tube heat exchangers and pressure vessels in accordance with Section VIII standards
  • Review customer specifications, drawings, data sheets, and technical requirements to translate into manufacturable designs
  • Prepare general arrangement drawings, fabrication drawings, machining details, and comprehensive bills of material
  • Perform and document pressure-vessel calculations using COMPRESS, PV Elite, or similar recognized design software
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with manufacturing, machining, welding, purchasing, quality, and project management teams
  • Support shop operations by answering technical questions, issuing drawing revisions, and resolving fabrication concerns
  • Support NDE, hydrostatic testing, Authorized Inspector reviews, and customer hold points throughout the project lifecycle
  • Maintain drawings, revisions, BOMs, and engineering records within the company ERP system
  • Identify and resolve design, material, fabrication, and scheduling risks before they impact production schedules
  • Maintain ownership of projects from initial design through fabrication, inspection, testing, and final documentation
  • What You'll Need to Have:
  • 3+ years of experience designing ASME pressure vessels or shell-and-tube heat exchangers
  • Minimum of an Associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting and Design, or related field
  • Working knowledge of ASME Section VIII, Division 1 requirements and application
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar CAD software for mechanical design
  • Experience performing ASME Code calculations manually or through recognized design software
  • Strong understanding of welding, machining, forming, assembly, and fabrication processes
  • Proven ability to prepare complete, accurate, and fabrication-ready drawings with detailed bills of material
  • Excellent technical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
