Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

Kforce's client, an established engineering consulting firm in Dallas, TX is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to provide technical leadership, project oversight, client engagement, and team development across a diverse portfolio of building systems projects.

Summary

This role is ideal for an experienced mechanical engineering professional who enjoys balancing technical engineering, project management, people leadership, and client-facing responsibilities. The successful candidate will help mentor engineers, oversee project execution, maintain strong client relationships, and contribute to the growth of collaborative engineering practice.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex mechanical building systems projects from planning through construction
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and designers
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client satisfaction
  • Review engineering designs, calculations, specifications, and construction documents
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and project stakeholders
  • Support construction administration activities and technical issue resolution
  • Develop and maintain client relationships
  • Participate in proposals, presentations, and business development efforts
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, and professional development initiatives
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience within building systems or MEP consulting
  • Experience leading complex commercial, healthcare, institutional, federal, or similar projects
  • Demonstrated project management experience including scope, schedule, budget, and quality oversight
  • Experience mentoring engineers and technical staff
  • Strong client-facing communication and relationship-building skills
  • Knowledge of building codes and standards including IBC, ASHRAE, and NFPA
  • Experience reviewing technical documents for quality and compliance
  • Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and presentation skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position

Preferred

  • Multi-state PE licensure
  • NCEES certification
  • 12+ years of experience
  • Previous people-management or department leadership experience
  • Business development experience
  • Active participation in professional engineering organizations

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
