Project Description:
This position is designed as an Engineer III staff augmentation role to expand the engineering capabilities of the Productivity Tools team. We are seeking an individual who can quickly become a trusted technical contributor and contribute across multiple Microsoft 365 workloads, with a primary focus on Power Platform engineering, enterprise governance, solution architecture, and automation.
The ideal candidate will have deep, hands-on experience designing, building, governing, and supporting business solutions using Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, SharePoint Online, and Microsoft 365 services. This person should be comfortable partnering directly with business stakeholders, troubleshooting complex platform issues, developing governance strategies, and delivering enterprise-scale solutions that balance business agility, security, compliance, and operational excellence.
We are looking for a self-directed engineer who can operate with appropriate guidance, contribute to technical direction, improve platform maturity, and remain hands-on in solution delivery and operational support.
Position Summary / Job Description:
• Enterprise Solution Architecture: Design and implement enterprise business solutions using Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, and related Microsoft 365 services. Translate business requirements into secure, scalable, maintainable, and supportable technical designs.
• Power Apps Engineering: Design, build, enhance, and support Canvas and Model-Driven applications. Apply sound user experience, security, data, performance, accessibility, and maintainability practices.
• Power Automate Engineering: Develop and maintain complex cloud flows and business process automations. Troubleshoot failures involving connectors, authentication, permissions, expressions, concurrency, data dependencies, service limits, and downstream integrations.
• Dataverse & Data Architecture: Design Dataverse tables, relationships, security roles, business rules, and solution components. Select appropriate data sources and integration patterns based on business, security, licensing, supportability, and scale requirements.
• Power Platform Governance & Strategy: Define and implement enterprise standards for environment strategy, Data Loss Prevention policies, connector governance, Managed Environments, tenant settings, capacity, licensing, ownership, inventory, lifecycle, and risk management.
• Application Lifecycle Management: Establish and improve development, test, and production practices using solutions, environment variables, connection references, source control, deployment pipelines, and release controls. Support CI/CD through Azure DevOps or GitHub where appropriate.
• SharePoint Online Engineering: Design, administer, and support SharePoint Online solutions, including site architecture, information architecture, metadata, permissions, external sharing, search, lifecycle management, and content governance. Integrate SharePoint with Power Platform and other Microsoft 365 services.
• Automation & Integration: Build integrations and administrative automation using Microsoft Graph, SharePoint REST APIs, PowerShell, PnP PowerShell, custom connectors, Azure Automation, and related Azure services.
• Security, Compliance & Risk: Partner with security, privacy, compliance, and architecture teams to apply least-privilege access, data protection, auditability, retention, and enterprise control requirements to platform and solution designs.
• Troubleshooting & Escalations: Serve as a technical escalation resource for Power Platform, SharePoint Online, and cross-service Microsoft 365 issues. Perform root cause analysis, document corrective actions, and coordinate with Microsoft or other vendors as needed.
• Operational Excellence: Improve monitoring, alerting, support readiness, service health, capacity management, incident response, change management, and problem management. Create durable operational processes rather than one-time fixes.
• Technical Leadership & Enablement: Contribute to engineering standards and reusable patterns, participate in design reviews, mentor makers and peers where appropriate, create technical documentation and runbooks, and support product roadmaps and platform strategy.
• Business Partnership: Work with business and technology stakeholders to evaluate opportunities, clarify requirements, explain tradeoffs, provide estimates and recommendations, and deliver measurable business outcomes.
Skills Overview:
• 5+ years of experience engineering Microsoft enterprise technologies, including responsibility for Microsoft 365, Power Platform, SharePoint Online, or closely related cloud services.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience designing, building, troubleshooting, and supporting production Power Apps and Power Automate solutions, including integrations and enterprise operational support.
• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing Power Platform governance, including environment strategy, Data Loss Prevention policies, connector controls, security, lifecycle management, ownership, inventory, capacity, and licensing considerations.
• Advanced experience integrating and automating Microsoft 365 services using Microsoft Graph, REST APIs, PowerShell, PnP PowerShell, custom connectors, Azure Automation, or comparable technologies.
• Proven ability to contribute to complex technical initiatives, participate in architecture and design reviews, troubleshoot cross-platform issues, communicate technical tradeoffs, and partner with business stakeholders to deliver supportable enterprise solutions.
