Job Title: Lead Data Architect
Rate: £626 (Inside IR35)

Skills & Experience

Essential

We're looking for a Senior Technical Architect with the ability to lead architecture across complex, business-critical environments. You will have:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Technical Architect delivering solutions within complex brownfield environments.

  • Strong expertise in designing and architecting AWS EMR-based data platforms, including data ingestion, schema evolution, ETL/ELT pipelines, and microservices integration.

  • Experience designing and implementing secure multi-cloud architectures across AWS and Azure, including secure data transfer patterns.

  • A deep understanding of architecture within government, public sector, or other highly regulated environments.

  • Demonstrable experience providing technical leadership, security governance, and ensuring successful operational handover to Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams.

  • Experience modernising Legacy platforms while maintaining the availability and resilience of critical production services.

  • Strong infrastructure, network, and security architecture skills, including VPC design, VPN connectivity, identity and access management, and technologies such as Zscaler.

  • Experience working within established enterprise architecture and technology standards

  • Hands-on experience leading technology re-architecture and migration programmes to modern, standardised platforms.

  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to provide technical direction and drive decision-making in complex or ambiguous environments.

  • Strong technical documentation skills, with experience producing high-quality architecture artefacts using Confluence and/or SharePoint.

Desirable

The following experience would be advantageous:

  • Experience designing event-driven architectures and implementing microservice-based data contracts.

  • Knowledge of Kotlin and experience planning or delivering migration to strategic languages such as Java or Python.

  • AWS Professional or Specialty certifications.
