Job Description

GCP Data Architect - 6 months | London, UK (Hybrid - 2 days/week in office)

We're recruiting for a GCP Data Architect to design enterprise data architecture aligned to Data Mesh and Data Fabric patterns for a leading organisation, defining domain-oriented data products with clear ownership and contracts. The role also covers development of Canonical Data Models, architecture governance across the GCP platform, and the definition of scientific ontologies and controlled vocabularies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design enterprise data architecture aligned to Data Mesh and Data Fabric patterns, defining domain-oriented data products with clear ownership and contracts
  • Develop and maintain Canonical Data Models (CDM) and domain-specific data models to ensure consistency and interoperability across the GCP platform
  • Define and enforce architecture standards, principles, and guidelines across the GCP platform and stakeholder organisations
  • Collaborate with data engineers and platform teams to ensure architecture patterns are implementable, scalable, and aligned to GCP-native tooling

What You Will Ideally Bring:

  • Strong data architecture experience
  • Hands-on experience with GCP (Google Cloud Platform)
  • Experience developing and maintaining Canonical Data Models (CDM) and domain-specific data models
  • Knowledge of GenAI, LLM, and Agentic AI
  • Experience defining and governing scientific ontologies and controlled vocabularies
  • Experience designing and implementing data governance frameworks - classification, data quality, lineage, retention, and GxP/regulatory compliance - is a plus

Contract Details:

  • Duration: 6 months (with potential extension)
  • Day Rate: £500 per day
  • Location: London (2 days onsite per week)
  • Start Date: ASAP
