Job Description
We are seeking a Mid-Level Database & Systems Administrator to manage, optimize, and maintain our core server infrastructure and enterprise data environments. This role is ideal for a versatile Systems Administrator with strong Microsoft SQL Server skills who thrives in a hands-on, high-availability production environment.
Operating within a regulated financial framework (SOX / SOC 2 compliance), you will ensure high availability, performance, and security across physical, virtual, and cloud infrastructure while collaborating with cross-functional technical teams.

responsibilities:
- Database Administration & Management: Administer, monitor, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server environments (2016 through 2022) using SQL Management Studio, T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, SQL Profiler, and Extended Events.
- Systems & Server Administration: Perform day-to-day server installation, operating system configuration, Active Directory management, and routine OS patching across physical and virtual (VMware) server environments.
- Cloud & Operations Support: Support database and server workloads in Microsoft Azure and maintain automated processes using PowerShell scripting and Azure DevOps workflows.
- Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and operational issues across a complex network of 1,000+ servers and 300+ SQL Server instances.
- Security & Compliance Oversight: Adhere to strict regulatory standards (SOX, SOC II) and internal change management protocols to maintain data integrity and security across all systems.
- Deployments & Documentation: Execute occasional scheduled after-hours software and database deployments. Maintain clear, structured technical documentation for operational processes and configurations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner effectively with project teams and ad-hoc task forces in a fast-paced environment while handling concurrent work streams.
qualifications:
SQL Server Administration & Tools (2-4 Years): Practical experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2016 through 2022), T-SQL development, and working knowledge of SQL Server Business Intelligence tools (SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS).
Operating Systems & Infrastructure (2-4 Years): Hands-on experience administering Windows Server environments (2016+), client systems, Active Directory, and standard enterprise applications (Microsoft 365/Office Suite).
Virtualization & Scripting (1-2+ Years): Hands-on experience with VMware or virtual server infrastructure, combined with 1-2+ years of using Microsoft PowerShell for routine task automation.
Cloud & DevOps Familiarity: Practical, hands-on exposure to Microsoft Azure cloud environments and Azure DevOps pipelines/tools.
Production Environments: Familiarity working within complex, integrated production environments that follow formal change control procedures and compliance rules (SOX / SOC 2).
